# MPM2D1-01 Graphing Parabolas, Reading Vertex Form 2016-11-07

We spent today practising the skills from Friday (graphing using a step pattern). A number of people had trouble with reading the vertex accurately from the equation. Your homework tonight (if you didn’t finish in class) is this:

For each equation below, find $a$$h$$k$, and the vertex. Each equation is in the form $y=a(x-h)^2+k$.

1. $y=x^2+17$
2. $y=(x+7)^2$
3. $y=(x-1)^2+18$
4. $y=2x^2-8$
5. $y=-\frac{1}{2}(x-7)^2+\frac{4}{3}$
6. $y=-0.1x^2+2.7$
