MPM1D The Language of Scatter Plots 2017-11-06


We worked on the kinds of trends we can see when collecting data and using scatter plots to show it. Here are the words we used:

  • Linear vs. Non-Linear
  • Increasing or Positive Correlation
  • Decreasing or Negative Correlation
  • No Correlation vs. Weak, Moderate, Strong, and Perfect

We sketched some sample graphs for each to show the differences. We then discussed how to sketch a line or curve of best fit on those scatter plots.

We spent the last 25 minutes or so carefully graphing a data set and correctly labeling everything. You have three more to finish for homework, including the lines or curves of best fit. Here’s that page:
